setITV6 induces false positive at virus scan | solved
The tools setIT V6.000 until V6.002 trigger a false-positive warning message with some virus scanners - in a few cases the installation was blocked.
The message is independent of the type and design of the telecontrol systems used; it refers exclusively to the parameterization software setIT V6.000 up to V6.002; setIT V5 is not affected.
We first checked the versions for authenticity and could also detect this 'false positive'; 8 of 72 virus scanners of virustotal.com find a supposedly dangerous pattern with different message content.
Obviously it is not due to an infiltrated malware, because the setITV6.exe are unchanged and the divergent messages of the scanners point to different causes.
We suspect that the effect is triggered by the new software protection of setITV6, because the executable file is stored encrypted. Some virus scanners detect this and take it as a reason to report a deviation.
Recommended course of action
The current setTV6.003 was signed with a Microsoft certificate to ensure the origin and authenticity of the software. We recommend to update to this version. If you need this version, just send an informal mail to email@example.com.
