As a subsidiary of EWE Turkey Holding, Kayserigaz has invested around 100 million dollars in the past ten years to be able to supply the industrial areas and all of the streets in Kayseri with gas. BTC Bilişim Hizmetleri A.Ş., a wholly-owned subsidiary of BTC AG in Germany, had bid to deliver the project as a complete turnkey system using, of course, the PRINS SCADA system made by its parent company.

Implementation in two phases

In the first phase of the project, the PRINS SCADA system was installed as a control centre with fully redundant back-up. Four FEPs (front-end processors) establish the connection with the distributed gas transfer stations in the field using the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol. The FEPs also provided with redundant back-up units so that eight net-line FW-50s are used. The 17 gas transfer stations, which signal differential pressures and flow rates via Modbus, are each equipped with net-line FW-5 compact stations. The first phase was completed in May 2015 and commissioned in the presence of the Turkish Energy Minister. In the second phase of the project, another 112 transfer stations – also equipped with the FW-5 – are to be completed. Final completion of the project is scheduled for August 2015.
