Next Kraftwerke GmbH is tackling the most common criticism made of renewable energy sources, the risk of fluctuations in the electricity grid owing to changeable weather effects. The electricity grid is stabilised with the renewables with the aid of a large scale virtual power plant. This is done by making controllable plants (biogas, CHP plants etc.) produce more or less electricity when an imbalance in the electricity grids is likely.

Description

This concept of regulated remote control requires communication (in the form of monitoring and actuation) between the distributed generation plants and Next Kraftwerke. This communication is realised by the intelligent “Next-Box” telecontrol technology. The control hardware on which this Next-Box is based – to ensure (cost-) optimal allocation of electricity – is supplied by SAE Systems.
